Martinborough Manor Farm

We (Penelope and Bill de Boer) both lived in the big city until 2008, but we wanted to enjoy better food, peace and quiet and create a special place for our adult children and grandchildren.  If you are looking to give your family or yourself a taste of what we have, some quality time and a happy experience, then doesn’t a farm visit with us sound like a wonderful idea? As we’re a working farm, NOT a petting zoo, please book before arriving at one of our guided tour times, 10:30am or 2:30pm.

Everybody is busy – we get that.  We’ve had children, who when they were younger needed to be ferried hither and yon to sports, school and so on.  Then there was the housework, the cooking, the shopping ugh!  But our visitors tell us that life should be more than that.  Not everybody can have a small farm, but we’re happy to share our special space.

I’m sure all of you have memories of at some stage being in the countryside (even if the memories are from a book or a movie).  Feeding a baby lamb? Letting a sheep eat out of your hand?  Watching a cow poop?  Do you remember how you felt?  Peaceful? Calm?  Happy?  Did you laugh? There were animals, hens, vegetables, a pantry full of preserves, countryside noises and smells.

We can help you with some quiet and blissful time with no techno gadgets in sight.  We can help your children learn where their food comes from.  Do you want to know how food can be sustainably produced on a small property?  Do you want to be able to enjoy old fashioned preserves as you remember them to taste without spending hours in the kitchen?  We can help you with these pleasures on what is arguably the smallest farm in the Wairarapa.

Organise a visit to us while you are in the Wairarapa.  Let us take you on a guided tour round our farm where you get to interact with and feed all the animals.  You (and your children or grandchildren) will learn about our animals.  When we have baby lambs or goats (in the Spring) we time your visit so you can bottle feed one.  You can check out our gardens and we can offer help to get you started on yours if that’s what you want.  You can also visit our farm store to buy our preserves or fruit, eggs and vegetables as available.  Bookings are essential!  Please allow at least half an hour between booking and a tour time, so we can get ready for your visit.

We are open most weekends and some school holiday times. Please ask.
